Festive doodles!

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Recently I've had a bit of artists block. I'm a bit confused you see...

I love drawing, but I don't have a particular style. You wouldn't look at my work and automatically know that it's mine. There are loads of certain styles that I love drawing but I'm finding it difficult to put them all together! So here are some doodles that I've been working on recently.

Cute festive friends! I loved making these but I needed more of a challenge.

I really enjoy drawing shapes and patterns, so I added them into the drawing. I used pencil rather than fineliner to give it a softer look, but I'm not satisfied with it!

I gave up and drew Bill Murray. Wahh.

I've come to the conclusion that I like making illustrations that take a long time, and that's why I like patterns. I like to challenge myself! I guess all I can do is keep practising until I find a style that works well for me!

Those Bow Times!

Hello chums! Just a little update, I've been working a lot recently so I haven't had much time to doodle. I have some ideas floating around though so I'll see how that goes!

Here are some pictures to keep you interested:

I've been putting my bow from Beth at ThoseBowTimes to good use! Find her here!

Halloween spirit

I've been trying to get into the Halloween spirit today. Every year I watch the nightmare before christmas and carve my pumpkin, so today was that day!

Maggie really wanted to eat the pumpkin but I wouldn't let her so she sulked...

I usually try to carve something interesting but this year I went for the more traditional pumpkin face. He's so happy and cute!

I also went to the cinema to see Frankenweenie. It was a little darker than Tim Burton's other films in that style and it had children crying in the back row! I really liked it though, there was some serious dark humour.

I bought some new make-up and felt really good about myself today so here's a picture!

Sorry about all of the pictures! xx

I got a new laptop!!

Today I treated myself and bought a new laptop! I've needed one for a while but I waited for Windows 8 to come out because my brothers new game was released in the Windows 8 store yesterday.

There's an app on Windows 8 called Fresh Paint. It's basically MS Paint but a bit more exciting! I dragged out my tablet and put my new webcam to use, creating this little doodle. Soon I'll get a proper drawing program and try to do a good drawing on here!

I have work tomorrow and the clocks go back tonight so I'm going to enjoy my extra hour of sleep now! xx

Practising Portraits

Hey guys! Today I've been trying out my usual style with some good ol' portraits. Here are two of my favourite characters in tv, Jim Halpert and Dwight Schrute.

I really like using patterns in portraits so I think I'll try to be a bit more adventurous next time! I really like how these turned out but I think I could of added a little more.

I might start doing custom portraits, I wonder if anyone would be interested in some freebies to start with...

Dusty the chinchilla

Hello! I just thought I'd make a quick post about my baby Dusty.

So I've been having a rough time recently and I needed something to cheer myself up. I've wanted my own pet for a really long time and now I've got a job (at last!) my mama said I could get one. I wanted a bunny but my parents didn't want one in the house and I didn't want to keep them outside in the winter. My mama finally agreed to let me get a chinchilla to keep in my room, as long as she didn't have to look after it at all. Of course I agreed, so off we went to the pet store to see how much the cages would cost.

I was planning on buying the cage and chinchilla when I got paid at the end of the month. The cage that I wanted was £120 and the chinchilla was £90. That's already £210 without boredom breakers, food or hay! My mama spotted an adoption centre in the pet shop with a chinchilla at the top of the list. We asked about him and he was ready to be taken home straight away! His previous owners didn't want him anymore so they gave him back to the pet shop. He came with his cage&toys, and we bought some fresh food, hay and sawdust to freshen it up a bit. We gave them a donation of £80 and took him home that day.

He's a very curious little creature, it was tough to get a picture of him because he kept nibbling the camera! His name was Dusty when I adopted him so I kept his name. The owners didn't know how old he was and there isn't a way to tell, but chinchillas can live to the age of 20+! I love him so much, I just had to draw him.

And here's a cute one of the both of us, just for fun!

And if you decide to cuddle a chinchilla, don't wear all black...

It's almost Halloween!

Hello! This is my first post here and it took me a while to think of what to talk about. After buying my first pumpkin of the year today I remembered that Autumn is my favourite season!

I love carving pumpkins, they smell so good! It took me a while to get in the Halloween spirit this year. Every year I set up my room for Halloween far too early, but recently I've had a lot going on and I forgot! So I have a week to get in the mood. Even Halloween at Disneyland didn't help...

I've been lacking inspiration to draw lately so I decided to take some time to myself and get doodling. Nothing cheers me up more than finishing a drawing that I'm really pleased with! I sat down and thought of some ideas (seriously feeling some Halloween vibes that night), and here's the result:

I'm really please with how this turned out and it's definitely encouraged me to carry on drawing. This was a photo taken on my phone because I was planning to scan it later, but my messy pup got muddy paw prints all over it. Typical.
